April 11
After 4 days of winds and rain, day 12 dawned beautifully and we took our leave from Ocracoke. We caught the early ferry back to the mainland of North Carolina. We made camp in the Croatan National Fort, at the Oyster Point Campground.

Actually just hiked at this CG, but ours didn’t have the nice NF sign. :) |

Day 12
On the road again, arriving late in Charleston, SC. Oak Plantation Campground is just on the outskirts of Charleston, and was our first experience with a full hookup campground. It was weird, and crowded, and not really our style of camping. But spots were available at the last minute during spring break, so we took it. :) But we consoled ourselves with BBQ from dinner and all was right with the world again.
April 13
We celebrated Doug’s birthday with a trip to Fort Sumter.
The celebration continued with a trip to the aquarium and followed with tasty birthday meal.
Happy Birthday, Doug!!! |
